Nagarkot is undoubtedly the most famous hiking destination for anybody looking to do a short hike to areas near Kathmandu Valley. It is popular not just among the tourists but also among the locals because it provides unparalleled sceneries of a lot of mountain ranges (Dhaulagiri, Kanchenjunga, Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, Gaurishankar) of Nepal, including Mount Everest, and it is just 32 km north-east of Kathmandu. Your can either drive straight to Nagarkot in the morning, which takes about 2 hours, and spend the day hiking around the area and enjoying the sceneries or you can hike from Sankhu to Nagarkot, which takes about 4 hours. This hike takes you through Newari villages, forests, and hills. It begins with a relatively steep hike up the hills and then slowly the trail flattens as you reach towards your destination.

Early morning you can see beautiful sunrise than hike down to Changunarayan and drive to Kathmandu. It takes around 3 hours hiking and 1 and half hour drive. You can enjoy the wonderful view of Changunaraya Temple and local culture during the hiking.
