Mt. Manaslu (8,163m) stands proudly as the eighth highest mountain in the world. It is situated in the west-central part of Nepal. The local people of Manaslu (meaning in Nepali “mountain of the spirit”) believe that this mountain has some spiritual significance in relation to spirits. Manaslu was first climbed on May 9, 1956, by Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu, members of a Japanese expedition. Since then it is also called the Japanese mountain.
Manaslu Circuit Trek is one of the best-selling treks from Nepal. If you want to see the Tibetan culture in Nepal, this is the trek for you. Hindu and Tibetan culture, wildlife, stunning and snow-capped mountain scenario, the greenery of forests are the major fascinating elements of Manaslu Circuit Trekking. The one feature which makes people eager to trek in Manaslu circuit is that Manaslu Valley/Tsum valley is a privileged region for foreign tourists; it is one of the easier treks, which is followed by the gorge of the river Budhi Gandaki. Every year nearly 2000 to 3000 people do this trek.
Tsum Valley Trekking is the hidden treasure of Nepal. It is a holy land of happiness. It is located in the northern part of Gorkha and is enclosed by Boudha Himal, Himal Chuli, Ganesh Himal and Sringi Himal. Opened to tourists only recently, it is a lesser explored region in comparison to other tourist areas. Trekking in Tsum valley gives you the chance to discover the secret of Tibetan culture, Buddhism, ancient art and rich cultural heritage sites at the edge of one of the most secluded Himalayan valleys.
The trekking route features ancient Buddhist Gompas like Rachen Gompa, Mu Gompa and Milarepa’s cave. The local people, who are mostly of Tibetan origin, speak their own dialect and are very hospitable.
Note:
Trekkers planning to travel to controlled areas in Nepal opened for group trekking need to get trekking permit issued by the Department of Immigration under the Home Ministry. The govern-ment has opened following previously restricted trekking areas for the group trekkers. Trekking permits will not be issued to individual trekkers in those trekking areas.
