Tamang Heritage Trail with Langtang Trek - 11 days of strenuous camping trek in Langtang region.

This trekking area is located about 30 kilometers toward the north of Kathmandu. Trekking along this unbeaten trail is a new experience for the trekkers experiencing the beauty of this mountain region with the culture of local people. You trek through Tamang villages with its life, culture and crafts which have remained untouched from the beginning of the settlement. The trekkers will receive hearty felicitation by the locals rich in their distinct costumes, architecture of their mountain houses and ancient monasteries. It offers you wilderness experience through beautiful landscapes of alpine terrain, flat meadows and rhododendron forests.

The main inhabitants of this area are believed to be the descendants of Tibetans from Kerung who intermingled with Tamang of the Helambu area. Tamang communities are generally found on higher elevations with the peasants engaging in shifting cultivation and extraction of forest products. They are mainly sheep and yak herders but grow some hardy grains and vegetables. Their daily life activities include raising livestock, agriculture and trade with Kerung in Tibet. They also make baskets and mats from mountain bamboo.

During this trek you can enjoy the dramatic views of Langtang Lirung (7245m.), Langtang Kerung, Chimse Danda ridge crossed by Ganjala Pass (5122m.), Dorje Lakpa (6989m.), Jugal Himal, Ganesh Himal, Paldor peak, Shringi Himal, Manaslu and Sanjen Himal ranges. In addition you find over 70 glaciers of varying sizes and high altitude lakes including Gosainkunda, Pravatikunda, Bhairavkunda and Dudhkunda.

The trail starts either from Dhunche or Syabrubesi and passes through Goljung, Gatlang, Thuman, Timure, Briddim, Lama Hotel, Langtang valley and Kyangjin Gompa. Goljung, Gatlang and Langtang are traditional Tamang villages culminating cultural features. The visit to beautiful local Tamang monastery and the holy Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang adds exhilaration to your trekking.

Itinerary - Tamang Heritage Trail with Langtang Trek

Day 01 : Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1467 m.) via Trishuli (Nuwakot) which takes about eight hours.
Day 02 : Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang (2238m.) via Goljung and it takes about six hours.
Day 03 : Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani (2607m.) and it takes about three hours.
Day 04 : Trek from Tatopani to Thuman (2338m.) via Nagthali (3165m.) and it takes about five hours.
Day 05 : Trek from Thuman to Briddim (2229m.) via Lingling which takes about seven hours.
Day 06 : Trek from Briddim to Lama Hotel (2470m.) and it takes about six hours.
Day 07 : Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang (3430m.) which takes about five hours.
Day 08 : Trek from Langtang to Kyangjin (3870m.)and it takes about three hours.
Day 09 : Trek from Kyangjin to Lama Hotel (2470m.) which takes about six hours.
Day 10 : Trek from Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi and it takes about five hours.
Day 11 : Drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu and it takes about eight hours. It is a pleasant drive back to Kathmandu with splendid views of hills, mountains, terraces and villages. You drive along the unpaved road till Betrawati and you begin to follow narrow well paved road.

How can I enter in Nepal?

Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal. At least, you need to spend one or two nights in Kathmandu before and after your trip. We can arrange your hotel accommodation in Kathmandu as per your interest and budget.

Can I do Chepang Hill Trail combine with Langtang Trail?
Chepang Hill Trail  combine with Langtang Trail is suitable for any trekker looking for something a little more challenging and energetic. It does not require that you have any previous trekking or mountaineering experience. You need to be moderately fit and normally healthy. It is good if you do some exercise before you come to Nepal for trekking.

When should I come for
Chepang Hill Trail combine with Langtang Trail?
February, March, April, May, June, September, October, November are the best seasons. However, July & August are okay and trekking can be done but not so clear visibility due to rain.

Do I need to join with group?
It is not necessary; you have to join with group and follow our group departure date, because private trip departures everyday upon your
request and requirements. You can move at your own pace and set your own schedule by not being in group.

What kind of accommodation I can have during the trip?
In Kathmandu, we can provide any category of hotels you want as per your interest and budget and during the trekking, we provide you guest house which is called Tea house. Tea Houses are more like hotels, with hot showers, western food, and private rooms (twin sharing). In this arrangement overnight halts with dinner and breakfast will be in Tea-houses (Lodges) and lunches in local restaurants en-route.

Furthermore as you will be staying in locally owned lodges you will be benefiting and interacting with the local community. It will give you a true feel for the Nepalese people and their lives.

What kind of meals I can have during the trek?
All Meals on full board basis will be provided during trekking. You have to choose from menu. Freshly cooked food is served at all times (western, continental and Nepali meals are available in all places). Three meals a day will be provided.

Do I have pre-departure meeting?
Yes, at first, our staff will receive you at the airport and transfer to the hotel and our tour leader will brief regarding about the trip. The briefing will cover the itinerary and introduction of your trek guide and porters.

Can I charge camera batteries along the trek?
Yes, Most of the places, you can charge batteries along the trek (per hour USD 2-3 for charging).

Can I extend my holiday?
Everest base camp trek can be extend and there are many options and choices to extend your holiday before or after your main trip. Following trips are suggested for your holiday extensions.
